Greetings! My name is Angela Counts. I am excited to introduce myself. As you may have guessed from my photos, I am a media artist—a screenwriter, adjunct professor, and former admissions officer at such fine universities as USC, NYU, and Harvard. I also coordinated programs for non-profit arts at the Manhattan Theatre Club and was business manager for the historic Plays for Living in New York City, working closely with the board of directors.
My leadership experiences in the arts and  college admissions can translate well to various roles, particularly those in arts management, education leadership, and admissions consulting.
Leadership and Strategy: I offer cross-disciplinary skills that combine my arts and leadership experiences as a former Director of Admissions at Harvard University and producer of a feature film, shot in the U.S. and South America (e.g., communication, problem-solving, team collaboration). These skills can apply to management positions in education, non-profit organizations, or even in media companies.
My adeptness at building relationships, honed through years of working with prospective students in student advising and admissions, as well as with various stakeholders like university alumni and donors, can be a valuable asset in roles that require strong customer relations, public relations, or organizational development.
My prowess in storytelling and creativity, as evidenced by my award-winning plays and media art, can bring a fresh perspective to roles in marketing, content creation, video production, and more. I aim to inspire through my art and creativity.
My works have been showcased at prestigious venues such as the New York Theatre Workshop, LaMama Experimental Theatre Company, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
My films have also been featured in exhibitions at Harvard University's Ethelbert Cooper Gallery and Lesley University's VanDernoot Gallery.
Currently, I am developing a multi-channel installation based on a historical crime case in colonial Boston involving three enslaved individuals and their enslaver, a merchant and seaman, at the dawn of the American Revolution. Conducting research in archives and visiting historical sites in Boston involves investigation, strategic planning, and communication.
In addition to my artistic pursuits, I have also gained valuable experience developing the first-of-its-kind diversity pipeline program in graduate studies in religion and ministry as a former Admissions Officer and director of admissions at Harvard University. Harvard's Inclusion and Belonging Report (2018) cited the program I developed, Diversity and Explorations, as "a positive pipeline program," addressing marginalized students and those focused on religion and social justice.
Currently, I am an Adjunct Screenwriting Instructor at the University of Arizona and serve as an admissions consultant, advising students applying to top-tier colleges and universities. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and skills on behalf of individuals as a consultant and for dynamic institutions, large and small, in admissions, student affairs, the arts, and other related fields. In the future, I aim to continue developing innovative programs and creating impactful art. I look forward to hearing from you. Please visit my site on LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/angelacounts
